Prof. Emmanuel Awuni Kolog

Prof. Emmanuel Awuni Kolog is an Associate Professor with a strong background in Computer Science, Data Science, and Information Systems. He holds a PhD and MSc in Computer Science from the University of Eastern Finland, where he received full scholarships as one of the top applicants for both degrees. He also holds an MBA in International Business Management from Lapland University of Applied Sciences in Finland, a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) from Ghana, and a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology with First Class Honours. Before joining the Department of Operations and Management Information Systems (OMIS) at the University of Ghana Business School, Prof. Kolog worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Eastern Finland, conducting research and supervising graduate students. He later held a three-year early career research position at McGill University, Canada, as a Queen Elizabeth II Scholar. He also serves as an adjunct research fellow at the University of Turku’s Plug-in Campus in Namibia. Beyond academia, Prof. Kolog has engaged extensively in global consulting and capacity-building assignments, providing expertise in data analytics, digital transformation, and IT strategy. His professional engagements include collaborations with the World Bank, Bank of Ghana, UNICEF-Ghana, UNESCO, the Pharmacy Council, University College Cork (Ireland), USAID/DAI Policy Link, the Ghana Ministry of Food and Agriculture, Ghana Revenue Authority, National Communications Authority, National Youth Authority, and Eduix OY in Finland, among others. He notably served as Lead Senior IT Consultant for the World Bank’s Ghana Accountability for Learning Outcomes Project and later as a consultant to the Ghana Revenue Authority (2023/24) to review and advise on IT-related contracts. Prof. Kolog has demonstrated strong expertise in research design, grant proposal development, and project leadership. He currently leads an EU Erasmus+ project at the University of Ghana in collaboration with four international universities. His research focuses on Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, digital platforms, learning analytics, and business analytics. He holds adjunct professorships at the Malawi University of Science and Technology, the International University of Management (Namibia), and the University of Eastern Finland, where he supervises PhD students. Prof. Kolog has authored over 60 peer-reviewed publications and received several honors, including the 2023/24 Best Innovative Worker and Resource Mobilization Award from UGBS, and the Best Research Paper Award (2018) in Hong Kong.
